Strings

Multi-Coloured Strings

God is in each of us. We sometimes cannot see Him in us because we are caught up in so many strings.

Strings may be people or things that can become harmful because of their demands, or in excess. They may take our attention from God and the purpose and destiny He has for us to help build and take care of the Kingdom.

Strings can be family, friends, food, work and various activities to name a few. They can demand so much of our time that they become an unhealthy distraction and we find ourselves spending less time also building our relationship with God.

Self-Assess Your Possible Strings

  1. Are there people in your life that use up a lot of your time outside of reasonable  relationships and expectations?
    • Maybe the adjustment only needs to be a reduced amount of time on the phone.
  2. Are there too many things in your life that you are trying to juggle?
    • Maybe you serving on 4 ministries or work committees are too many.
    • Are your children involved in so many extra curricular activities that you are running y0urself ragged trying to get them to multiple activities each week, cook, clean, help with homework, volunteer somewhere and do laundry?

Take a calendar, write in the things that must be done in one pen colour, the things that should be done in another pen colour, the things you personally do not have to do but do so as an obligation and the things you do not want to do for sure but do anyways.

Please note: Christmas dinner does not have to be at your home because no one else will host it. My family takes turns hosting Christmas dinner each year. One year we checked into a hotel for the weekend and had Christmas dinner there.

Once you have your filled in calendar, look for things that can be delegated to others or ways that others can assist in particular tasks. For example taking turns driving the kids to rehearsals and practices.

Purge, reorganize and streamline your calendar and therefore those strings! Try out your new calendar and adjust as needed. Success awaits you!
