I read leadership books for many years. I borrowed materials from the library and my place of employment on leadership with no understanding as to why I did this.
One day while I was purchasing books by John Maxwell on leadership, I became so angry. During my unplanned conversation with God I shared my frustration. Why was I spending money that I truly needed in other areas on leadership books? I was not leading anyone, including myself!
After purchasing the books (annoyed) and reading them, I made notes as if I was going to be applying what I had learned.
Buying books was not the issue or unusual. The amount of money I spent specifically on these materials with no understanding of why was unusual.
I did not realize that eventually I would continually be placed in leadership positions corporately and in ministry. Now I understand that when I need to flow in integrity and leadership wisdom, all that had been poured into me naturally comes out of me.
This is why the more we read our Bible and fill ourselves with His Word, the more we will reflect His love to others, treat others as we want to be treated, walk in wisdom and share the Word of God effectively.
What are you filled with? What are you not filled with that you would like to be?
Everything begins with a step. Be encouraged, do not look at the mountain of things you want to change. Just take a step to start and keep moving!
