Train Yourself to Walk With God

We need to train ourselves to walk with God. We do this by reading His Word, meditating on it and acting on it. We need to do all 3.

Reading His Word

As we read His Word then He has something to work with as we receive revelation and understanding. We may have head knowledge but that is not the same as when the Word is illuminated in our spirt and soul.

Meditating on His Word

Sometimes we hurriedly read the Word and then we move on to the next thing we have to do. We need to stop, think on what we read, ask God any questions we may have. He is faithful. We can look up another translation of what we have read or read other books on the Bible that may focus on a particular topic. Eg. blessings and curses in Deuteronomy. My great-grandmother used to stop and consider what she read. She took the time to think about it.

Act on His Word

We need to act on what we learn as we grow in our relationship with God and our knowledge of His Word. Do not just sit, do something.

In addition to attending services, when we do not know how to move forward in a particular area then the ” do” may be to continue building our relationship with Him while reading and learning His Word.

He has given us many resources to help us to either start or continue training. You can do it!

Do not be discouraged because how you train yourself is different from how someone else does it. Maybe it is watching the videos on what the Bible is about on a Bible app is something that can help. There is no shame in your game. Be bold and take the step!

Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

James 2:14-26

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
