I was making dinner and my sister asked, “What is for dinner?” I said it is a surprise and she said, “Whatever you are making I do not like it.” ๐๐๐. Kids see food or in this case hear about food they are not familiar with and decide if they like it or want to try it.
We sometimes do the same thing! We are against things that we do not know about. Below are a few examples.
- We run from new employment opportunities because they are outside of our comfort zone or seem too difficult.
- Maybe it is a change that we need to make in how we work in order to have better results.
- Sometimes it is information on how to better organize ourselves to prevent frustration due to disorganization.
- It could be adding some healthier food options to our meals but we assume they will not taste good.
- Or we assume all exercise is so strenuous that we reject the idea outright without looking into the different options. A 20 minute walk is exercise.
- We will not read books on healthy relationships (of all kinds) because our pride is offended by the idea that we need ‘help’ in that area. Our thoughts are also what could the writer say that we do not already know?
Before you reject changes, take a bit of time and check into it. You might be pleasantly surprised!
