Our neighbour hired someone to prune his tree. The landscaper started cutting off the branches from the top to the bottom. Then he did the more detailed work.
We need to do this with the difficult areas in our lives. (Eg. Managing money, harmful relationships, self-care, career decisions)
There are different areas in our lives that we do need to occasionally prune such as our clothing closets and social media lists. I focus on the difficult areas in this blog as that is the area we tend to avoid, however they can also do the most damage.
Make some quiet time (even if you have to go sit in your car), and make a short list of 2 areas you need to prune. From that list prioritize which area you will work on first and write down three (bullet points only) things you need to do to begin.
Sometimes it is best to keep somethings to yourself to prevent others from discouraging you. If you have someone who is an encourager, share your plan so that you have an accountability person. Do not be embarrassed as I feel I can say with confidence that person is working on something too. We all are.
Set a deadline to assess your progress and a deadline to complete the pruning. This is important. My neighbour does not still have someone pruning his tree. Also the person performing the service would want to be paid. The longer he would take to complete the job, the longer he would have to wait for payment.
How quickly do you want to see the results of the pruning in your life?
