Have you ever had the strong inner urging to not do something and you did it anyway? Only to have some random crazy thing happen that shows you why you should have listened to your initial urge?
I was at my grandmother’s house and sat at the top of the stairs for a little me time. I was placing my drink on the alcove area and felt the strongest urging not to put my drink there.
None of the kids or adults were around me and the ledge was a bit of a reach from the stairs. I thought, there is no one is here with me, the kids are all downstairs and the adults are in the kitchen or family room. How could there be a problem?
I placed my drink on the ledge and then went up about two more steps and sat down.
About 6 seconds later, I heard the kids laughing and I saw a ball get kicked over to the base of the stairwell. It hit one of the spindles, which were carved. It then, on an angle, bounced up and knocked off my drink.
Another time I felt an urge to go put my phone in my purse. I decided to get my keys and put them beside my phone so I would not leave it. Guess what? I picked up my keys when it was time to go and did not even see my phone.
It seems to me that disobedience/rebellion creates consequences and or an almost mental or visual cloud that we cannot see through. I went to work and had to leave and go home to get my phone because I used it for work. I still do not understand how I did not see it.
I will save myself the trouble and listen next time.
